Cyprus's largest and fastest growing
print and electronic media company, the DIAS Group,
has forged a reputation as a dynamic and progressive
organisation seeking to diversify into strong alliances
and new ventures in broadcasting and new media.
While preparing more newspaper
and magazine editions in Cyprus and Greece and while
strengthening its standing in the broadcasting field,
DIAS is in touch with a number of strategic partners
that can add value to its projects.
Founded in 1975 with the launch
of the SIMERINI daily, DIAS now employs over 350 professionals
and is the largest and most diverse media group in Cyprus.
"SIMERINI" NEWSPAPER
An independent broadsheet with
an average daily circulation of over 10,000 copies,
SIMERINI recently celebrated its 30th birthday. Its
circulation shoots up to 35,000 on Sundays, when the
second-largest in circulation magazine in Cyprus, TV
Star, is distributed with the paper. SIMERINI is the
first Greek speaking newspaper to offer its readers
an electronic daily edition on the Internet in 1998
with more than 10,000 unique daily visitors that generate
more than 120,000 hits.
"TO PERIODIKO" MAGAZINE
Founded in 1986, "To Periodiko"
was the first weekly magazine to be published in Cyprus.
It introduced colour print and advertisements for the
first time and claimed more than a 25,000 circulation
in a country whose total population is 650,000. "To
Periodiko" is a full colour weekly magazine with
features on current events, politics, lifestyle and
fashion and sells for CYŁ1.00 (US$1.70). In the face
of growing competition its circulation is currently
12,000 to 15,000.
RADIO
PROTO
Launched in 1990, Radio Proto is
now the most popular island-wide radio station and has
proved its staying power in a market which has seen
many radio stations start and fail after the initial
liberation of broadcasting in 1990. It has the widest
selection of news, music, talk shows and DJ personalities
on the island. It broadcasts live 24 hours a day on
the Internet and claims more than 10,000 unique visitors
per day.
SIGMA TELEVISION
On the air since 1995, Sigma is
the only fully independent television station with the
largest number of locally produced programs in Cyprus.
It broadcasts daily on a 24 hours basis targeting a
mainly young, urban audience in the 18 to 45 age group.
It employs more than 150 television industry professionals
(see http://www.dias.com.cy/sigma.asp
or http://www.sigmatv.com).
"TIME OUT" MAGAZINE
"Time Out Cyprus", the
first international magazine to be officially licensed
for a Cypriot edition.
The first issue, published in February 2002, sold out
its initial print of 7,000 copies within days and it
is already another success for Dias. "Time Out
Cyprus" is put together by a dynamic young team
of writers and contributors, under the guidance of its
two experienced Chief Editors.
"TV STAR" MAGAZINE
A popular television magazine,
which combines a TV guide with features on entertainment
and the island's social life, TV Star was launched in
immediate success as part of SIMERINI's package to its
readers. It has a weekly circulation of 25,000 copies.
STAR circulates on Sundays and due to its TV guide lasts
the week in the living rooms of its readers, attracting
thus great interest from advertisers.
